“Why can’t I stay consistent?”

I used to think that I could help women by telling them which exercises to do, how to do them, and why.

Now, I Understand That what’s most important is how you think about exercise.

“well-being”?

When I became a certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist in 2019, I quickly learned that everyone has a different definition of “well-being”. While helping my clients tackle their own fitness goals, I became lost in dieting, intense exercise regimes, and crippling self-doubt.

Exercise was a way to control my body, and I was my own worst critic. Perfectionism and shame were running the show.

These unhelpful thought patterns held me back from the consistent exercise routine I strived for.

Today, I teach two key mindset shifts that transformed my relationship with exercise:

1) Self-compassion over self-criticism

2) Curiosity over perfectionism

If I could give my younger self advice, I’d tell her to be kind to herself and practice staying curious.

And that’s my wish for you, too.

Stay curious,

Johnena, The Self Care Trainer
